Twitter plans to charge a monthly fee of $20 to verified accounts

November 1, 2022

It didn't take long, as reports indicated that Twitter was planning to charge a fee of $20 per month to be paid by verified account holders.

Elon Musk has warned employees that they must charge a paid subscription to verify accounts or they will be fired from the company.

For this, the optional monthly subscription known as Twitter Blue, which is $4.99, will be changed to another mandatory subscription with greater features at $19.99 per month.

According to the new subscription, verified users will have three months to sign up. Or they will lose their blue verification sign for their account.

The world's richest man and new Twitter owner Elon Musk told employees working on the project on Sunday. They need to meet the deadline and launch the paid feature by November 7th or else they will be fired.

Musk had been clear in the months leading up to the acquisition that he wanted to change the way accounts on the platform were verified and bots were dealt with. And that's what he's going to do as he brings profits to the company and makes it a great place.

Those moves come from Elon Musk, even though he was only a few days old as Twitter's president. Musk is seeking to make substantial and rapid changes to Twitter.

The famous tweet site launched its paid service Twitter Blue about a year ago, and the service gives users access to additional features before others. In addition to displaying ad-free content and making modifications to the application.

It is reported that the richest man in the world also plans to lay off a large number of employees of the Twitter site, it is said that Musk will get rid of 75% of the employment within the company.

Finally, ads make up the vast majority of the Twitter site's revenue, which is why Musk is keen to increase subscriptions in order to increase and become half of the company's total revenue.
