Microsoft is finally killing off Internet Explorer

Microsoft is finally killing off Internet Explorer

August 21, 2020

Microsoft has announced the termination path of Internet Explorer, its veteran web browser that dominated the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Well, Microsoft confirmed that from 30 November 2020, Microsoft Teams will stop supporting Internet Explorer.

Then on 9 March 2021, Microsoft Edge Legacy will reach its end of life (Edge Legacy is the Edge HTML browser that is currently the default browser on Windows 10).

For Internet Explorer 11, the actual end of its 26 year odyssey will come on 17 August 2021, when Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support it.

The retirement of Internet Explorer has been on the cards since late 2015, when Microsoft first began warning customers that support for older versions of Internet Explorer would be phased out.
