Facebook launched a new logo this week that will help users distinguish between the original Facebook and the different types of Facebook apps.
As explained by Facebook:
"People should know which companies make the products they use. [...] Today, we’re updating our company branding to be clearer that these products come from Facebook. We’re introducing a new corporate logo and further distinguishing the Facebook Company from the Facebook app, which will keep its own branding."
Facebook will add its new logo to all the apps owned by the company with a clear 'from Facebook' tag on certain screens.
Here is an example from Instagram:
A study done by Pew Research found that 71% of the users don’t know that Instagram and Whatsapp are owned by Facebook and this new logo will help consumers better understand which company is behind each platform, and the information they share within these apps.
