SSL Certificates are becoming essential in the online shopping Industry
May 30, 2018
SSL also known as Secure Socket layers is the act where all the end user’s online shopping is secure from online eavesdroppers.
The concept appears as the HTTP link that assures the end user his security whilst checking out the items from an online store, some other users can see their security being assured by a small padlock that shows while checking the items from the online list.
This feature is not only important to end users, but is also a huge positive for the organization as a whole and specifically for the IT department.
In addition, there are 3 main benefits the company gains once using the SSL certificate which are:
1. Service and Communication Encryption
Encrypting services and communication online is a very important matter. Going beyond Ecommerce, the emails and messages exchanged between the client and the seller will be safe and secure once SSL in being used. This concept keeps text messages and emails private and creates a secure route of which the messages pass through safely over all unsecure connections such as the FTP, or when establishing a connection via VPN.
2. Public key exchange and user’s authentication
In addition to the safe messages, certificates enhance the creation of unique and secure identifier for each device of every user. Management through a part of a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) or exchanging messages one person to another helps authenticating the users and their devices. Moreover, using the PKI provides proof of the originality of the data sent and received, and forbids verifying the sender’s identity once using an online signature. The message then can only be decoded by the receiver which provides integrity to the message and helps the receiver to know if their message was interfered with or not.
3. Web of Trust Establishment
Once we talk about the web of trust we mean by it serving a high level communication method between all devices that connect to a certain company. Through SSL certificate users can be sure that their messages are being delivered to the right receiver trusting that the receiver of their message are truly who they claim to be. Through this clients will be able to see the company’s offering with full confident and trust unlike dealing with other companies that don’t offer the SSL certificate.
