Falling Chinese rocket is out of control and expected to crash on Saturday
May 6, 2021
The US Defense Department reported on Wednesday that the out of control Chinese rocket is expected to fall to Earth early on Saturday and said that its exact entry point can't currently be determined until few hours before its reentry.
"The wreckage could pose potential threats to the safety of space flight and the space field," the Pentagon statement added.
And the huge missile launched by China, Thursday, became out of control during its orbit around the Earth, and it could fall on its surface in the next few days, according to "Space News". The White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, said on Wednesday: “The United States is committed to addressing the risks of growing congestion due to space debris and growing activity in space and we want to work with the international community to promote leadership and responsible space behaviours.”
China’s space agency has yet to say whether the rocket is being controlled or will make an out-of-control descent. But the Global Times newspaper, published by the Chinese Communist party, has claimed the rocket’s “thin-skinned” aluminium-alloy exterior will easily burn up in the atmosphere, posing an extremely remote risk to people.
The basic details of the missile's stage and path are unknown because the Chinese government has not yet publicly commented on the matter.
