Photographers, get your cameras ready! Super Pink Moon is coming soon!

Make sure to catch the next "super pink moon" on April 26 which is expected to reach its peak illumination at around 11:33 p.m. EDT.

Supermoons tend to be around 15 per cent brighter and seven per cent bigger than an average full moon.

NASA says supermoons occur because the moon's orbit around the earth in an ellipse or oval shape rather than a perfect circle.

For the best view of this lovely spring Moon, find an open area and watch as the Moon rises just above the horizon, at which point it will appear its biggest and take on a golden hue! 

 

On average, supermoons are about 7% bigger and about 15% brighter than a typical full Moon. However, unless you were to see a regular full Moon and a supermoon side by side in the sky, the difference is very, very difficult to notice.

Another supermoon is expected on May 26, which the Old Farmer's Almanac calls the "flower moon".
